Comic: Under The Weather

A cartoon about the consequences of imbeciles.

As some of you may or may not have noticed, the Trump administration recently allowed the numbskulls at DOGE to fire 800+ employees at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

They think that getting rid of experts who oversee such things as hurricane warning centers, climate/drought research, and planetary monitoring won’t have the slightest impact on people’s lives. They’re in for quite a surprise.

In reality, decreasing the number of weather experts and diminishing NOAA’s forecasting abilities will undoubtedly exacerbate life-threatening disasters. Hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, wildfires, droughts, and major winter storms will be underestimated, leading to deadly consequences.

One only needs to look back at the disasters during the first Trump administration to see clear examples of incompetence.

Remember the response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017?

Trump tossing paper towels to the crowd was the epitome of his incapability to comprehend the suffering of others. Today, the island is still rebuilding thanks to his bumbling disaster response.

Or how about California Wildfires? Between the years 2017 and 2020, California exploded with wildfires, thanks in part, to doofus Trump and his minions cutting back on forestry personnel and also his failure to acknowledge the impact of climate change and drought.

Now look where we are. Those who would wear a cheap red hat made in China are declaring this "a new golden age."

They are of course, wrong.

It’s actually "The Age of the Imbecile."

Not only has the lead orange imbecile retaken the Presidency, but he’s managed to fill his cabinet with other imbeciles, who are in their positions for either reasons of self-serving corruption or mean-spirited vengeance. Add to that, the Congress and the Senate are controlled by hate-filled, vile imbeciles as well. Together they’re slavishly doing the bidding of hubristic, oligarchical Billionaire imbeciles.

Their combined heinous executive orders, bad legislation, illegal actions, information suppression, and insanely flawed Christo-fascist libertarian dogma are the recipe for assured disasters on every level.

The firings at the NOAA and at the other science-centric agencies let us know that not only are the imbeciles in charge, but they're also dangerous, psychopathic imbeciles.

Their efforts to strip and bury all knowledge of the very real consequences of human-driven climate change, as well as its counterpart, the Sixth Mass extinction, are the actions of people willing to commit—I’m not going to mince words here—genocide.

Genocide for the sake of the profits by fossil fuel, mineral extraction, natural resource-depleting multinational corporations owned by Billionaire imbeciles.

This limiting of weather, health, and science information tells us that Trump and his minions obviously don’t care if people get proper disaster warnings to avoid injury or death. Also, based on how they’re gutting FEMA, they don’t give a hoot about helping any disaster victims.

We are held hostage by immoral craven imbeciles.

We can only hope that the disasters they create only victimize themselves; however in the end, I fear that may not be the case.

I apologize for the way this cartoon and post has beaten you over the head with stark reality. This is why I try and limit my political cartoons to once a month; certain folks might not survive a higher onslaught of political-based commentary. I’d hate to take the blame the next time a corpse is found with its head sticking in an oven while also grasping a printout of my cartoon in its hand.

That’s a fate I’ll only leave to certain high school art teachers, old art directors, and old imbeciles who held animosity for my art.
