Your newsletter reminds me of our visit to NYC- I got a new appreciation of my deafness and ability to have silence when taking out my hearing aids. But the visual noise in NYC was what affected my sleep- all the lights, all of the blinking lights, all of the @$&*÷#$ lights!!!!
The 24 hours I spent in NYC had to be the most claustrophobic and noisy nights of my life. Fast forward another 48 hours, settled on a kibbutz, first morning. Awakened by a rising and falling chorus of chickens reaching an ear-splitting crescendo at the coda. I feel your pain, Ed and Debbie.
Your construction worker taxonomy is perfect! I grew up a city kid, but living in Oregon for the past two decades as made me favor the semi-rural setting.

I love the clip. It conveys the spirit of New York.

Here in Manitoba, there are apparently only two seasons- winter and construction- so I have become acquainted with some of these folks...
