I used to practice Zen religiously (no pun intended), so the "silence is golden" idiom holds special significance to me. It reveals in me and clears the direct link to the divine.
This is ringing true for me too. No pun, I have tinnitus also. Have you ever listened to Brian Eno's discreet music? Music for Airports etc. Random loops of recorded sounds and piano that blend with the outside noise of the world. He started doing it back in the 70's and still is making this. In the mid eighties, I was on the team that did the renderings for the World Financial Center in New York. When they had the grand opening of the the project his music played in the Atrium as the background soundscape.

I would not give up my short time as the singer in a rock band, even for the hearing I left there, but alas, I will never hear silence again what with all this ringing. Now I have to put noise on at night to not hear the noises I'm generating. Your comic reminds me of the simpler time, before Marshall amps. Thank you.

Respectfully disagree that humans have 'overpopulated' the world as such. The 'overpopulation' narrative was propaganda sold to us by orgs that benefit from our depopulation. With proper self-management we – as beings of nature – COULD live in harmony with our natural world.
great stuff no bars/signal strength where I live. Humans are so selfish, seems I alone do all I can for wildlife where I live. When (fox, bobcat, skunk, hawk, condor, birds ) look me in the eye it's worth the efforts... times square or Yosemite? I choose Yosemite hope they put out the fires there... carry on.
I really enjoyed today’s comic. I’ve also noticed how much harder it is to find places free of human noise than it used to be. I love living in the PNW as well, I just hope we develop noise sanctuaries for wildlife and the occasional human

Ah, yes. As the world gets louder my hearing gets worse. And I have no children. Did the noise disrupt MY mating behavior? I think so!
