I myself am a unaffiliated pet person and support both parties. But back to the other thing, I haven't played the game in a few years but if memory serves paper beats rock and the international symbol for that is a palm folded over a fist. Game over.

In my experience, ignorance and bigotry are best overcome by doing exactly what you did, Ed. Give them an example of helping people. I do have a question though. Is there any correlation between fist and palm people and dog and cat people?

I used to live in a neighborhood where I was one of the few white residents. At one point a white guy moved in next door. I was chatting with him one day when he told me that we were living in a “pretty dominantly” Black neighborhood.

What about the "middle finger", the "Live long and prosper", the "boy scout", the "victory", the "three stooges poke your eyes out", the "thumbs up", and the secret racist "OK"... I'm Italian so there's a bit of the "devil horns" in me.

Getting some interesting takes on this comic on the other social sites.

One person thought I was being naive by having a message of hope at the end. They didn’t understand that if you don’t have even a small bit of hope in any issue, then all is lost. Plus without hope you end up in a cycle of miser filled polarity, which is where our country (the US) currently is and which badly needs to be disrupted.

I got more coffee. The way I often responded to the Fist people in Oklahoma was to smile at them and say some version of "That view could be correct but I know it doesn't work for me so as an adult I will continue living in what you call my sin and error in ways that do work for me. Please excuse me I have to go..." Often they were gobsmacked and I got away. When/if they persisted I said repeatedly "I don't think this discussion is going anywhere and I've got other stuff to do. So have a good day." And I would go to a place where there were more people in hope they wouldn't follow.

Love this newsletter today! Over 10 years ago my wife and I lived in Oklahoma and in the allegedly "most liberal" city in OK. Almost any visit to a grocery store had a version of some white person approaching me and my wife to tell us that being LGBTQ and "dressing like a man" (i.e. jeans and tshirts) was an abomination to gawd. We'd be called names etc by people with guns holstered on pants about to fall off. Whenever I had art exhibit openings at least once during the opening one or two folks would express concern for my soul because I was making graven images. I could go on but I need more coffee. Thanks for the dose of gratitude that I no longer live in Fist OK!!! I love it that there are more Palm people on the US left coast!!

Having grown up in a time when there were actual gangbangers at my high school and having had somebody else shoot out the window of my car on the freeway, I alway laugh at Pacific Northwest worry-worts that need to have a gun on them all the time. A dentist friend of mine once shot a hole in his bathroom floor trying to intimidate a cat (who he thought was a burglar).

By not facing life with your hackles up you got a longer story with more info than you would by being a reactionary. Ms Busybody is a piece of work.
